From first draft to your next winner
Five steps you repeat with every round of creatives. Each round leaves you with better ads and a clearer picture of what works for your audience.
-
1
Review before launch
Upload an ad image or video and add a little context: industry, product, offer and goal.
You do
- Upload the creative
- Tell it what you're selling and to whom
You get
- A score out of 100 with the reasons
- Priority fixes, suggested hooks and a designer brief
- Crop previews for Feed, Stories and Reels
-
2
Fix, then launch the best versions
Rework anything that scores low, then run your strongest creatives side by side on a small test budget.
Tip: name your ads like your files
roof-offer-v2.pngroof-offer-v2When the ad name matches the file name, results connect to the review on their own.
-
3
Bring in the results
After 5 to 7 days, import a CSV from Ads Manager or let the Meta connection sync results every day.
You do
- Export the Ads tab as CSV and upload it, or connect Meta
- Match any ads that didn't match by name
You get
- CTR, cost per result and ROAS next to each score
- Hook and hold rate for videos
- A check of whether higher scores went with better results
-
4
Find the patterns
Creative intelligence compares the traits of your ads, like text amount, a visible offer or an early voiceover, against how they performed.
You need
- At least 6 creatives with results
- Around 1,000 or more impressions each, in one currency
You get
- Traits to repeat and traits to avoid, labelled strong or early signal
- What your top performers share
- The things you rarely try
-
5
Plan and track the next test
Pick a recommended test. It lists the versions to make, the ad names to use and the impressions it needs.
You do
- Make the versions and name the ads as shown
- Run them in one ad set with equal budgets
You get
- Live results per version
- A winner called only at 95% confidence
- The learning saved for next time
Then start again at step 1 with better ideas.
What to do with each score
A score is a starting point, not a verdict. Here's the rule of thumb built into the product guide.
- 80+Well built
No major creative problems. Launch it in your test.
- 60–79Usable, with clear weaknesses
Fix the weakest one or two categories, review again, then launch.
- Below 60Likely to waste budget
Rework the idea or skip it.
Common questions
How long until I see patterns?
It depends on your budget. Most teams need one or two rounds of testing to reach 6 creatives with enough impressions. Reviews and fixes are useful from the first upload.
Do I need the Meta connection?
No. A CSV exported from Ads Manager gives the same results. The connection only saves you the export.
Can I use it for clients' ad accounts?
Yes. Add your team as members and bring in each client's results, either by CSV or through the read-only Meta connection.
What if a high-scoring ad performs badly?
That usually points to the audience, offer or landing page rather than the design. The testing plan suggests tests for exactly that situation.
